Self-employment Income Support Scheme
The Government has today issued guidance on eligibility for the above scheme and how the funds can be accessed via the following webpage:

If you are self-employed and think you may be eligible, go on to the below link and follow the instructions to check your eligibility. You will need your Self Assessment Unique Taxpayer reference (UTR – a ten digit code) and your national insurance number – both of these are shown on a tax return.

If you are eligible, you will be told from which date you can apply for the grant. It doesn’t appear possible for AFS Accountants as agent to claim the grant for you, so as the website will state, you will have to apply for the grant yourself through your own Government Gateway. If you do not currently have a Government Gateway account, follow the link on the webpage. It is highly recommended that you apply for your Government Gateway account as soon as possible so that you can apply for the grant as soon as you are able.

If the eligibility check states that you are not eligible for the grant, there is a facility to appeal which returns a message stating that HMRC will contact you by the end of May.

Bounce Back Loans
The Government has today also launched the bounce back loans:

These loans of between £2,000 and £50,000 at an interest rate of 2.5% are available from banks and fully backed by the Government. Under these loans, no interest, fees or repayments will be due in the first 12 months.

The loans are available through a network of lenders including the largest five banks. Other banks will be added.
